LED tile reference design kit
Xmos has launched an Ethernet-based LED tile reference design kit to enable digital designers to rapidly develop LED tile systems using daisy chains of Ethernet scan boards.
All requirements are implemented entirely in software, which is available on an open-source basis as a royalty free download.
The LED reference design kit includes an XC-3 scan board preloaded with LED application software and a 16x32 RGB LED module so digital designers can immediately start to develop LED designs.
Additional XC-3 scan boards and modules can be plugged in to create a complete display.
Each XC-3 can accept video input over UDP on an Ethernet network.
Video can be sourced directly from a PC using the open-source video player included in the LED reference design, or from an external data processing engine.
'Xmos is putting every aspect of LED operation under software control, enabling designers to improve image quality and reduce artifacts specific to LED displays,' said James Foster, president and chief executive of Xmos.
