PICkit 3 debugger/programmer
Now available from TME, Microchip's PICkit 3 debugger/programmer, with Mplab IDE programming software, is designed for programming 8- and 16-bit PIC and dsPIC microcontrollers with Flash memory.
The kit consists of a development board with PIC18F45K20 microcontroller and a dedicated free C (CSS) compiler with a 2,000 word limit.
Other available programmer tools include a free 'Lite' version of the C compiler from Hi-tech, which can be used with microcontrollers of the PIC10/12/16 series.
The PICkit 3 debugger/programmer enables direct programming of microcontrollers placed in circuits and real-time debugging.
It can be used to store and read program and data memory.
A USB 2.0, with a full speed of 12Mb/s, enables it to be connected to a PC.
The circuit is connected to the debugger through multi-pin connectors or through a RJ-11 connector optionally.
PICkit 3 uses two I/O lines and a single zeroing line that enables debugging and programming functionality in circuits.
An internal circuit on the contacts of the connection socket provides protection against overvoltage and short circuiting.
PICkit 3 supports circuits supplied with voltage within a 2-6V range.
Diodes indicate the device's status, whether that is Power, Busy or Error.
Customers will be provided with full documentation, comprising PICkit 3 debugger/programmer user guide and a series of 12 lessons on the programming of PIC microcontrollers.
These lessons are presented in assembler language and include source codes and debugging tutorials.
