CY8CKIT-007 PSoC 3 Precision Analog Demo Kit
Cypress Semiconductor has introduced a demonstration kit highlighting the broad precision-analogue capabilities of its PSoC 3 architecture.
The CY8CKIT-007 PSoC 3 Precision Analog Voltmeter Demo Kit showcases a PSoC 3 device as a single-chip voltmeter, using an onboard 20-bit Delta Sigma Analog-to-Digital Converter (ADC) to measure the voltage from the included test leads and onboard thermocouple while directly driving an LCD.
With the kit, designers can use pre-configured op amp, ADC and analogue mux components in the PSoC Creator Integrated Development Environment (IDE) to design industrial sensors, consumer sensors, glucose meters and other analogue applications.
The flexible PSoC 3 architecture combines integrated, programmable analogue and digital peripheral functions, memory and a microcontroller on a single chip.
Precise analogue resources available in the kit include four digital-to-analogue converters (DACs), four comparators, four op amps and four PGAs, TIAs or mixers.
The voltmeter in the kit measures -30 to 30V of DC signals and includes an onboard thermocouple that is used as a low-noise voltage input.
PSoC 3 and PSoC 5 devices extend the programmable analogue and digital embedded design platform, delivering flexibility across 8-, 16- and 32-bit applications.
The platform is powered by the PSoC Creator IDE, which introduces a schematic-based design methodology along with fully tested, pre-packaged analogue and digital peripherals.
These are customisable through wizards and APIs to meet specific design requirements.
The PSoC 3 Precision Analog Voltmeter Demo Kit contains: PSoC 3-based voltmeter, test leads, USB battery pack with two AA batteries, quick-start guide, and kit CD that includes: PSoC creator, PSoC programmer, sample projects and documentation.
