SoftPLC offers internal interface for the Rockwell Automation remote I/O protocol
SoftPLC
Interface to Allen-Bradley remote I/O
SoftPLC has introduced a low-cost internal interface to the Rockwell Automation (Allen-Bradley) remote I/O protocol, for its Smart SoftPLC and Smart Gateway products.
This interface is claimed to provide the lowest cost and most comprehensive connectivity to Allen-Bradley remote I/Os, such as 1771, 1747 (SLC-500), Flex and other compatible networks.
As a remote I/O master, the interface allows users to upgrade existing A-B PLC systems without replacing or re-wiring the I/O, simply by exchanging the A-B PLC CPU with a Smart SoftPLC controller.
As a remote I/O slave, a SoftPLC Smart Gateway can act as a bridge between an A-B PLC and many other devices on other protocols not supported by A-B PLC’s or, alternatively, can add SoftPLC’s Tealware I/O to an A-B PLC system.
Key features
- Offered at a ‘low cost’
- Provides connectivity to Allen-Bradley remote I/Os such as 1771, 1747 (SLC-500), Flex and other compatible networks
- Remote I/O master makes replacing or re-wiring the I/O unnecessary to upgrading
- It allows users to reuse most of the existing logic and program documentation
- Up to 32 racks supported
- Remote I/O slave can appear as multiple racks to the A-B PLC
