Mitsubishi Electric introduces rack-free PLC designed for mid-size control applications
Mitsubishi Electric Automation Systems
Mitsubishi Electric has launched a rack-free, modular programmable logic controller (PLC) that is suitable for mid-size control applications.
The Melsec L series controller is designed to bridge the gap between the compact Melsec FX PLC and the IQ process automation controller.
According to the company, the PLC’s rack-free design promotes high system flexibility with minimum form factor, and all the key features that engineers require as standard are built in to the base central processing unit, minimising hardware and engineering costs.
These features include 24 I/O ports, a two-channel high-speed counter, two-axis positioning up to 200kHz, pulse catch and interrupt functions, built-in data logging, Ethernet and CC-Link (master or local station) interfaces and an SD/SDHC memory card interface for data storage.
