Texas Instruments offers power-saving PMICs for flash memory management applications
Texas Instruments
LM10504, LM10503 and LM10506 PMICs
Texas Instruments has introduced a range of small, single-chip power management integrated circuits (PMICs) for powering all the supply rails in solid state drives (SSDs), hybrid drives and other flash memory management applications.
Claimed to improve reliability, while reducing system cost and development time, the LM10504, LM10503 and LM10506 PMICs feature a power-saving deep sleep mode, built-in current limit, thermal protection and power-down data protection.
The devices integrate three programmable 2.25MHz DC/DC step-down converters with 95 per cent peak efficiency that support core processor, memory and I/O voltages; in addition to a general-purpose, 3V, 250mA low-dropout (LDO) regulator for host controller reference.
Each PMIC functions co-operatively with a controller IC to optimise the supply voltage for low-power conditions and turns off the flash and input/output rails to obtain maximum system efficiency.
