transceiver chipset

Maxim Integrated Products has introduced the MAX2557/MAX2597, a WCDMA Band II and Band V femto base-station transceiver chipset with a digital interface for the North American UMTS market.

The receiver (MAX2557) and transmitter (MAX2597) use Maxim's high dynamic range MAX-PHY interface to eliminate the need for a mixed-signal analogue front end.

The MAX2557 has four low-noise amplifier (LNA) inputs to allow monitoring of WCDMA and GSM macro-network signals.

The MAX2599 integrates power amplifiers (PAs) to further reduce BOM expense.

The MAX2557/MAX2597 are the North American versions of Maxim's UMTS Band I system, the MAX2547/MAX2599 transceiver chipset.

The MAX2557 is available in a 48-pin fcLGA package, while the MAX2597 is packaged in a 64-pin fcLGA.

Both devices operate over the -40 to +85C extended industrial temperature range.

For rapid application development, a reference design kit is available, providing a complete evaluation platform and all necessary software.

Samples, data sheets, and applications support are available by request only.
