Linear Technology's pulse width modulation generator is suitable for LED control
Linear Technology
LT8500 pulse width modulation generator
The LT8500 48-channel pulse width modulation (PWM) generator from Linear Technology is suitable for LED control — including large-screen LED back-lighting — and industrial and robotic applications.
The unit features 48 independent PWM outputs that have adjustable PWM registers and a TTL/CMOS 50MHz serial data interface for programming controls, such as correction and grey-scale dimming for LED applications. The serial data interface also includes buffering and skew balancing.
Additionally, two diagnostic information flags are provided by the generator — synchronisation error and open LED — which offer additional state information when read on the serial data interface.
