Linear Technology launches 16-channel driver for applications such as large LED billboards
Linear Technology
LT3745 LED driver
The LT3745 16-channel LED driver from Linear Technology is suitable for applications such as large LED billboards, large-screen LCD dynamic backlighting, full-colour LED displays and multi-channel LED systems.
The driver provides wide, dynamic contrast ratios and allows dot correction and greyscale dimming to be accessed using a serial interface in TTL/CMOS logic.
Its internal buck controller generates an adaptive bus voltage that is slightly higher than the parallel LED strings and — according to the company — delivers efficiencies of more then 90 per cent.
The LT3745 can also carry out full diagnostics and protection against over-temperature and open/short LED faults.
The LT3745EUJ model is offered at prices starting from $4.95 (£3.13) each in 1,000-piece quantities. An extended-temperature version — the LT3745IUJ, or I-grade — is available with prices starting from $5.45 each in 1,000-piece quantities.
