International Rectifier offers PFC control IC designed to reduce line current harmonics

International Rectifier

IRS2500S µPFC control IC

International Rectifier has introduced the IRS2500S µPFC power factor correction (PFC) control IC, which is designed for use in switch mode power supply (SMPS), LED drivers, fluorescent and HID electronic ballast applications.

The IRS2500S µPFC controller can be configured to operate in critical conduction boost PFC or flyback configuration and features a total harmonic distortion (THD) optimisation circuit to reduce line current harmonics.

It is claimed to have high noise immunity, which helps to simplify design and reduce system cost.

Expanding IR’s existing SMPS and general lighting device portfolios, the IRS2500S PFC control IC is designed to reduce noise sensitivity, ease PCB layout and provide a cost-effective alternative to existing solutions.
