FXMA2102 translates bus interface voltage levels
Fairchild Semiconductor
FXMA2102 supply translator/level shifter
Fairchild's FXMA2102 is a configurable dual-voltage supply translator and level shifter that translates voltage levels in I2C bus interface applications in consumer devices and mobile phones.
The FXMA2102 is a high-performance translator designed for bidirectional voltage translation between any two levels from 1.65 to 5.5V.
The two ports of the device have auto-direction sensing capability, allowing either port to sense an input signal and transfer it as an output signal to the other port.
Fairchild's device accommodates standard and fast I2C bus modes, and works as a translator, buffer and repeater.
Additionally, the FXMA2102 features non-preferential power up, allowing either VCC to be powered up first.
Inputs and outputs track VCC levels, making the device fully configurable.
Additionally, the open drain inputs/outputs allow the device to work in push-pull and open-drain environments.
The FXMA2102 maximises load capacitance on the I2C bus, is said to offer lower power consumption than competitive devices and provides ESD protection that exceeds 8kV HBM.
Available in an eight-terminal leadless Micropak package (1.6 x 1.6mm) or Ultrathin MLP (1.2 x 1.4mm), the FXMA2102 is ideal for use in smart phones, mobile phones, netbooks, smartbooks, mobile internet devices, portable medical devices and set-top-box designs.
Fairchild offers a targeted portfolio of analogue and power IP to support mobile and consumer manufacturers' specific requirements.
Fairchild's products for mobile and consumer applications complement chipsets in signal path for audio, video, USB, signaling, sensing and timing, and in power management for peripheral cores, lighting and RF.
