NXP transceiver is LIN 2.1 compliant
NXP Semiconductors
TJA1021 transceiver
NXP Semiconductors has announced that its TJA1021 transceiver is to be certified according to the recently established LIN 2.1 specification.
A safe and comfortable automotive driving experience requires reliable communication between electronic control units within the car, making certification of core electronics components vital.
As the market's first certified LIN 2.1 compliant transceiver, the TJA1021 was tested against new criteria released in October 2008.
LIN 2.1 represents the next evolution of the Local Interconnect Network standard and incorporates new criteria including enhanced transport layer criteria, addition of diagnostics and backwards compatibility.
The TJA1021 offers an ESD performance standard of 8kV HBM and 6kV, in accordance with the IEC 61000-4-2 standard.
This level of performance enables manufacturers to build electronic control units without incorporating external ESD protection, thus reducing overall system costs.
The NXP TJA1021 transceiver features low sleep current, low leakage current and low operation voltage.
A low operation voltage down to 5.5V makes the device a candidate in engine start related applications such as start stop that can help to further reduce CO2 on the system level.
