Hollybush2
Enterpoint's Hollybush2 board offers high-performance processing without heat-sinks.
Using FPGA embedded microprocessors technology, and customisable FPGA based hardware engines, conventional and DSP functions can be achieved without a large power budget.
High performance processing often comes at a heavy cost of high power consumption and the related problems heat dissipation and the associate size and mass of heat-sinks.
Hollybush2 is based on a Xilinx SpartanTM-3A DSP XC3SD3400A FPGA.
Supporting the FPGA processor are two banks of DD3 memory and 32MB of Flash memory.
The board also has USB, Ethernet and SATA controllers.
PS2, RS232 and RS485 interfaces are also supported.
Hollybush2 is based on the popular PC104-Plus format giving both ISA and PCI style connections to other PC104 or PCI104 boards.
Hollybush2 can act as a master in either of these buses or can be configured as a slave-only co-processor board.
A unique feature is that either, or both, of these buses can be configured as a custom interface/s allowing higher bandwidth, or lower latency, for application specific add-on modules.
These features also facilitate creating complex and modular processing matrix arrays using multiple Hollybush2 boards to form an array.
Hollybush2 can also be used as a standalone board running from a single 5V DC input.
An optional wide range DC-DC power supply module will also be shortly available allowing the board to operate in aircraft, automotive, shipping and rail applications.
Development versions of HollyBush2 are available now.
Application-specific versions of the board will be available in January 2009.
