HD video for flat panels
DS2 and Cavium Networks are offering 1080p60 HD video distribution to flat-panel displays, using DS2 powerline networking devices.
HD video distribution using DS2 and Cavium chips will be used by consumer electronic manufacturers, service providers, gaming console vendors and after-market gateway and HDMI cable replacement vendors, to connect multiple video sources with flat-panel displays without wires.
Cavium Networks NetHD technology with DS2 powerline technology uses standard H.264 video encoding, IP networking and quality-of-service techniques to distribute 1080p60 high- quality video to flat-panel displays in the home.
DS2 provides up to 200Mbps of bandwidth over existing home wiring, used by displays and plugged-in consumer video content sources.
Additionally, DS2 technology provides the required quality of service and throughput to provide a smooth and high-quality HD video experience to the end user.
The NetHD evaluation platform provides a cost-effective, ready-to-use and feature-rich development platform, to build in-home HD video distribution systems called NetHD gateways.
The platform integrates the Cavium Networks PureVu CNW3602 and Octeon CN50XX MIPS64 processor.
The platform offers 2 x HDMI interfaces, 1 x VGA input, 1 x SPDIF audio output, 1 x GE port and 1 x USB 2.0 host.
The HDMI interfaces can input 1080p60 HD video, and send a secure compressed video stream via DS2's powerline technology to a receiving flat panel that displays the HD video.
The NetHD evaluation platform ships with ready-to-use software called the NetHD application.
