Bosch Rexroth supplies control system and display for SAM sliding axle crop sprayer

Bosch Rexroth

Microprocessor controls and display

Bosch Rexroth has supplied microprocessor controls and a display for a sliding-axle crop sprayer manufactured by Sands Agricultural Machinery (SAM), to enable the machine’s operator to automatically change track widths from the cab, saving time and money.

In addition, Bosch Rexroth completed all of the machine’s programming work and assisted in commissioning the sprayer and control system.

The user system controls eight Rexroth proportional valves, which in turn drive eight hydraulic cylinders that change track width and maintain steering geometry.

Each cylinder has been designed to include position feedback, so that it can be monitored at all times — both during width setting and when the system is locked while travelling on the road.

Key benefits of product application

  • Rexroth’s control system enables track width to be adjusted from the cab
  • It is claimed to be easy to use
  • It makes the sprayer compliant with the 70/311/EEC EU directive and thus the only one road legal
  • The screen displays cylinder positions and other vehicle data
