Stellaris access
Arrow Electronics UK now offers embedded system developers access to the Luminary Micro Stellaris family of 32-bit ARM Cortex-M3 microcontrollers and associated development support tools.
Devices in the Stellaris family combine the Cortex-M3 core running at up to 50MHz with various peripherals and interfaces that provide control-processing and connectivity capabilities.
As well as the full range of Stellaris microcontrollers, Arrow will also stock and support associated evaluation and reference kits.
Target applications for the Stellaris devices include motion control, remote monitoring and security, building controls, factory automation, electronic point-of-sale machines, test and measurement equipment, medical instrumentation and gaming equipment.
Stellaris microcontrollers feature embedded flash and SRAM, a 32-channel DMA, a low-drop-out voltage regulator, a battery-backed low-power hibernation capability, integrated brown-out reset and power-on reset functions, analogue comparators, a 10-bit analogue-to-digital converter (ADC), GPIOs and watchdog and general-purpose timers.
The family of microcontrollers also integrates several serial interfaces, including 10/100 Ethernet MAC+PHY, CAN, USB On-The-Go, USB Host/Device, SSI/SPI, UARTs and I2C.
Peripherals designed specifically for industrial motor control - including motion-control PWMs and quadrature encoder inputs - are also integrated into members of the Stellaris family.
The addition of the Stellaris range of devices and development tools to the Arrow portfolio follows the recent announcement of the acquisition of Luminary Micro by Texas Instruments.
