Murata offers toroidal surface-mount power inductor for consumer electronics devices
Murata Power Solutions
8300 series of toroidal surface-mount power inductors
Murata Power Solutions has introduced the 8300 series of toroidal surface-mount power inductors, whose miniature, low-profile design makes them suitable for use in handheld consumer electronics devices, where the available PCB footprint and height are restricted.
The 8300 series, measuring 7.8 x 5.20 x 1.8mm, features a toroidal core that ensures the magnetic flux is confined to it to almost eliminate the occurrence of stray fields.
It has a device-dependent maximum DC current of 3A, with inductors available from 0.42 to 100μH, while DC resistance ranges from 24 to 1,320mΩ across the range.
These toroidal surface-mount power inductors are supplied in tape and reel for high-volume automated surface mount assembly and the maximum reflow solder temperature is 260°C, as required by J-STD-020D.
