Cissoid presents converter reference design

Cissoid

converter reference design

Cissoid has unveiled Etna, a DC/DC converter reference design suitable for operation from -55C up to +225C.

This reference design is the first product of a family of DC/DC converters named Volcano.

It implements a buck (step-down) DC/DC converter with Cissoid products as active components.

Etna offers a smart design for energy-sensitive, highly demanding applications requiring reliable and continuous operation at 200C and above.

This DC/DC buck converter can provide output voltages from 2.5V to 10V, while driving loads from 10mA to 1A across the entire operating temperature range.

Etna brings efficiency of over 80 per cent at 200C.

Its input voltage can extend from 7V to 30V, while providing very good line regulation (1mV/V), load regulation (5mV/A) and output voltage drift with temperature (150microvolts/K).

The architecture includes input voltage feed-forward, allowing very good DC line regulation and a fast response to input transients.

Etna fits market requirements for oil and gas, aeronautics, space and industrial applications with a large temperature range.

Depending on specific customer needs, Etna can be implemented with packaged components on a high-temperature PCB, or as a multichip module on the basis of bare dies.

Further integrated designs are under development.
