The Barden Corporation (UK) Ltd – Precision with VISION

Barden specialises in the design and manufacture of super precision ball bearings for safety-critical and harsh environment applications in a broad range of market sectors, from aerospace bearings to high performance machine tools.

Barden is a member of the multinational Schaeffler Group, which specialises in bearing technologies and precision products for aerospace, industrial plant and automotive industries. Schaeffler is headquartered in Germany and oversees three main brands: FAG, INA and LUK.

The Barden product line encompasses predominantly radial, single row, super precision angular contact and deep groove ball bearings, incorporating full complement bearings and hybrid bearings as well as standard designs and materials.

Bearings come in inch or metric dimensions with diameters ranging from 4mm (0.16") outer diameter (OD) up to 180mm (approx 7") OD and operate comfortably at speeds of 2 million dN (bore in mm x RPM) or above. A variety of bearing seals, shields and metallic/non-metallic cage designs are available for all products. 

Aerospace Bearing Repair Services

Barden is an EASA part 145 approved repair station for aerospace bearings, offering refurbishment options for bearings up to 300mm. Alongside FAG Aerospace, Barden is part of an extensive network of bearing repair stations with facilities located in the UK, Germany, Canada and the USA.

Aerospace and Defence

Custom designed and manufactured aerospace bearings are the cornerstone of the Barden product line. Aerospace bearings can be manufactured to ABEC 7/9 (ISO P4/P2)  and fully certified, so quality and product precision is ensured throughout the product range.

Barden has supplied bearings for applications in pneumatic and electric starters and generators, gearboxes, main engines and a variety of auxiliary aircraft positions. Barden aerospace bearings are capable of high speed, reliable operation and running quietly with minimum power losses, making them well suited to applications in this sector.

Medical & Dental

Barden has a thorough knowledge of the medical and dental industries, supplying bearings for use in applications ranging from X-ray tubes and high speed dental handpiece turbines, to CT scanners and robotic arms used in cosmetic surgery.

Vacuum Pumps & Industrial

Barden's precision bearing range excels in industrial applications where conditions are harsh. Applications in this sector include bearings for vacuum pumps and the canning and textile industries. Barden also offers a complete machine tool bearing range.

Speciality

As well as supplying to traditional markets, Barden's engineering team have been called on to design bearings for a number of specialist applications. These include bearing systems for autosport and high performance passenger vehicles, fuel cell systems, bearing systems for drill heads used in oil and gas exploration and control rod actuators for nuclear power plants.
