Buccaneer connectors
The Buccaneer range of connectors from Bulgin Components, a brand of Elektron Technology, is now incorporated in almost 70 per cent of traffic detection and control products — including vehicle and pedestrian detection systems — developed by AGD.
The PX0728/P nine-pole cable connector and the PX0762/S nine-pole bulkhead standard Buccaneer connector provide the pole-top connection between AGD’s traffic control and pedestrian detection sensors and the traffic light controllers.
Performance and reliability were key considerations for AGD when selecting the connectors because its products operate outdoors for up to 10 years and therefore must be able to withstand seasonal temperature extremes and variable weather conditions.
Key benefits of product application
- The Buccaneer connectors provide an IP68-rated, environmentally sealed circular connection that can protect critical circuitry from the rain and general dust and dirt that could cause the product to malfunction and require repair.
- According to Martin Smith, quality manager at AGD, purchasing the connectors helped the company to save 15–20 per cent on its component spend.
